MEET OUR FOUNDER
RICHARD ROBERTS
Since founding the original company in 2012, my mission has been clear: to build a studio of like-minded creatives dedicated to pushing the boundaries of digital storytelling. From the very beginning, I’ve been passionate about harnessing new technology and innovative workflows—not just to make myself more efficient but to empower our entire team to work smarter and more creatively.
Dreaming big has always been at the core of who I am. I challenge myself and my team to continuously break new ground, exploring new horizons in storytelling and design. That passion and drive, combined with the creativity we bring to the table, are infused into every project we undertake.
At Dual R Studios, we’re not just crafting visuals; we’re building immersive worlds, developing captivating narratives, and setting new standards in the industry.

I've fallen in love with movie magic since first seeing The Lord of the Rings. This passion for storytelling and creativity led me to study Mediadesign. After completing my studies, I gained valuable experience in the industry, including working on exciting projects like building 3D holograms. Now, I'm thrilled to channel that creativity into designing experiences for theme park attractions, which is a dream come true for a fan like me.

I graduated from the University of Tennessee (Go Vols!) with a degree in Journalism. After gaining valuable experience producing for television, I found my place here at Dual R Studios. As a producer, I’m constantly inspired by the incredible work our talented artists do. It’s a joy to witness the creative process unfold and see projects come to life. Outside of work, I’m a movie enthusiast, an avid reader of fantasy and mystery books, and a fan of Bethesda and Nancy Drew games—always looking for new ways to fuel my curiosity and creativity.

My journey as a 3D artist began 20 years ago and counting, and the spark that inspired me to pursue it was playing the Final Fantasy games while in middle school. I'm a 3D generalist and animator with an Associates in Animation & Motion Graphics. I excel in picking up technical skills and pride myself on having learned a universal character animation pipeline. My focus is on creating timeless media that truly resonates with people.

I am a CG Generalist and Supervisor with 18 years of experience in the Film and VFX industry, I started my first job as a compositor during my Senior year in highschool. I had convinced a VFX studio in Los Angeles to allow me to work from home (Which was very different back then!). As soon as I graduated High School I moved to LA and worked at several studios, with the majority of that time spent at PIXOMONDO as a CG Lighting artist. I then spent 8 years working for Industrial Light & Magic as a Senior Environment Artist. And have spent two years as an Houdini and Unreal specialist at Blur Studio. Working with the team at Dual R Studios is so rewarding as an artist, the efficiency and agile nature of the studio allows me to stretch my creativity further than I ever expected. But the culture and comradery stands out most and reminds me of the best parts of the days when I worked in an office, and that shines through on the finished product.

Since I was a little kid, I’ve always loved creating. I used to paint and draw on every surface I could put my hands on (and to this day, I still do!) During my teenage years, I discovered story-rich video games such as Morrowind or Dragon Age, which sparked my passion for concept art and storytelling. I’m currently living in the beautiful French Alps where I can practice what I like most : plein-air painting and hiking.

I still vividly remember receiving my very first GameBoy in second grade, marking the beginning of a lifelong passion for gaming. While I can’t say for certain if it shaped my career choices, I know that my time in the fantastical worlds of Hyrule and co. have been a great source of inspiration for me. To offset my screen time, I find joy in urban gardening, exploring new destinations, indulging in great food and expanding my ever-growing vinyl collection.

I grew up obsessed with characters and creatures from many movies, games, anime and comics since my childhood - and with a family supporting my creative side from the beginning, I learned to draw and that was my main hobby for the most part of my life. As a kid sketching and doodling during the classes and doing my first commissions at that time or as a teenager very invested in TTRPGs as a GM creating fictional worlds, designing the player's characters, NPCs and enemies. But my journey with 3D art started around 2015/16, when I was digging through vfx breakdowns and behind the scenes from games and movies, and got mesmerized watching digital sculpt timelapses on youtube. I was so intrigued about how the characters are made for production that I got driven to start learning Zbrush, immediately fell in love with the process and that was a path of no-return. There is still a lot to learn, but after years working alone as a freelancer digital sculptor for 3D printing collectibles before going through the cinematics pipeline, I realized how fantastic is when you add your genuine efforts together with a talented team to create something greater, something epic.
